== Driver options ==

The button next to the {{old button|Steering animation|yellow}} button shows the name of the current steering animation. You can click it to choose a different animation. To edit the steering animation, use the [[LFS Editor/Vehicle Editor/Animation Editor|animation editor]].

If {{old button|Concealed driver}} is enabled, the driver will not be drawn anymore when the vehicle switches from LOD1 to LOD2 (when it gets far away enough that the game switches to the lower-detailed LOD2). This should be enabled for most closed-cockpit vehicles, and disabled for open wheelers and motorcycles.

== Steering wheel ==

You can set the steering wheel's {{old button|heading|paleviolet}} and {{old button|pitch|paleviolet}} (the angles of the steering wheel subobject in the 3D model are ignored), as well as the maximum angle the wheel can turn with {{old button|Steering wheel turn (ONE WAY)|paleviolet}}; if you set this to 450 degrees, the steering wheel will turn 900 degrees from lock to lock.

{{old button|Trail reduction|yellow}} can be used to offset the front wheels forward or backward. This can have a strong impact on the force feedback, make sure to pay attention to the info displayed by the editor as you change this setting.

== Frame and mass display ==

To see what you are doing better, you can enable {{old button|show masses|paleorange}}{{old button|show frame|paleorange}} to display coloured boxes corresponding to object masses. For more control over this display mode, use the buttons on the bottom right corner of the editor: {{old button|frame|paleviolet}}, {{old button|masses|paleviolet}}, and {{old button|w|paleviolet}} (for wheel masses).

== Available controls ==

{{old button|Scale frame mass|darkgrey}} allows you to scale the mass of all frame tubes uniformly, which can help get the total mass to your general target mass. You should then fine-tune the mass and weight distribution by editing tubes manually.

If you enable {{old button|Specify fuel tank size}}, you can choose its maximum capacity in litres; its mass will be updated accordingly.

{{old button|Suspension mass constant|darkgrey}} lets you scale only the mass of the vehicle's suspensions, without affecting anything else.

== Statistics ==

The bottom part of this editor mode gives you the total mass, weight distribution, and position of the centre of gravity.

== Setup restrictions ==

{{old button|Limit setup lock to base setup lock|palecyan}} prevents the setup from setting a lock angle higher than the default setup.

{{old button|Specify allowed tyre types|paleviolet}} lets you choose a range of allowed tyre compounds. You cannot allow or disallow specific compounds.

{{old button|Specify tyre pressure limits|paleviolet}} lets you choose a range of allowed tyre pressures.

You can set the engine's {{old button|Crankshaft axis|paleviolet}} to be transverse or longitudinal, and choose a clockwise or counter-clockwise {{old button|Rotation|paleviolet}}. Those affect how the engine's torque will move the car.

You can also choose whether to {{old button|Include seat masses|paleviolet}} for the driver and all passengers.

== Objects ==

The following objects can be positioned:

* {{old button|Driver|palecyan}} affects both mass and where the camera is placed in the game. If you enable the {{old button|Front passenger seat}}, it is positioned symmetrically to the driver.
* {{old button|Back seat|palecyan}} (optional) is for the rear passenger seats. You can set the maximum number of passengers using {{old button|Capacity}}.
* {{old button|Engine|palecyan}} (the engine's mass is determined entirely from the engine editor)
* {{old button|12V battery|palecyan}} (optional) has an adjustable mass using the {{old button|Mass}} arrow buttons.
* {{old button|Fuel tank|palecyan}} allows you to move the fuel tank. To set its capacity, head to the [[LFS Editor/Vehicle Editor/Mass|Mass editor mode]].
* {{old button|Spare wheel|palecyan}} allows you to add up to two (symmetrical) spare wheels, change their visual appearance (or hide them while including their mass), and set their orientation (when visible).

== Options ==

If the vehicle has a pit speed limiter, you can choose to enable a flashing light while the limiter is active, which can be either the brake light or the rear fog light.

If the vehicle's headlights use separate mappings for sidelights and low/high beam, you can choose whether the sidelights should stay on when the main headlights are on.

== Light colours ==

Each light colour can be edited using RGB sliders. You can preview the result by clicking {{old button|TEST|grey}} below the light's name, which will turn the corresponding light on. This only works if the model contains the appropriate mappings (l_brk, l_head, etc.; the complete list is available in the [[LFS Editor/Modeller|modeller]], where typing <code>l_</code> when editing a mapping name will show all available light mappings).

Keep in mind that the light colour is affected by the mapping's texture colour, which means that depending on the texture, you may need to set a colour that is different from the expected result.

There are also limits for each light (some lights have a maximum value of 220, others go to 255, etc.).

== Saving and loading ==

You can load and save all light colours using the buttons below the colours list, which allows you to reuse them for another mod.

== State ==

Each aero element can be in one of three states:

* {{old button|in use|paleviolet}} : the aero element is active
* {{old button|not used|paleviolet}}{{old button|use}} : the aero element is not active, click {{old button|use}} to enable it
* {{old button|not usable|paleviolet}} : the aero element is not available

By default, only the body element is available (it is also the only one that cannot be disabled). To use any of the other elements, you must add the corresponding subobject in the [[LFS Editor/Modeller|modeller]]. The placement of the subobject determines the position where the aerodynamic force is applied. To set the position of the force applied to the body, you can add an '''aero centre''' subobject.

== Aerodynamic coefficients ==

Each aero element has three coefficients you can set:

* Max lift: the upward force applied; wings and undertray use negative values for downforce. Setting the lift to zero disables the element.
* Max drag: the force applied opposite to the vehicle's velocity vector, slowing it down.
* Side drag: same as Max drag, but only applies when the relative airspeed has a lateral component (e.g. when the car is oversteering, or with wind from the side).

The total lift/downforce and drag forces are calculated from the car's speed, direction of movement, and wind.

The rear wing and front wing have additional parameters to allow adjusting their downforce:

* extra: a set angle, always added to the setup angle
* min: the minimum angle in the adjustable range
* max: the maximum angle in the adjustable range

For instance, for an extra value of 10, a minimum of 5, and a maximum of 20, the adjustable range will be 5-20, and the effective angles will be 15-30.

You can refer to the setup's Downforce tab to check the total lift and drag for each element at any given speed.
