Penalties are issued to drivers who violate various race rules while on track.

False start

If you move your car from your starting grid spot before the green lights are on, you will receive a drive-through penalty. If you go even before the red lights are on, you will receive a stop & go penalty. If there aren't enough laps to enter the pit lane, you will receive a 30 or 45 second time penalty respectively instead. In multiplayer, driving too far from the grid slot before the red lights turn on results in being spectated.

Speeding in pit lane

If you're going over the pit lane speed limit by less than 20 km/h, you will receive a drive-through penalty, which means you have to go through the pit lane once again during the race. If you're speeding by more than 20 km/h, you will receive a stop & go penalty, which means you also have to make a 10 second pit stop. Failing to serve a drive-through penalty or a stop & go penalty by the end of the race will make you disqualified and you will be marked as [DQ] in the race results table. If there aren't enough laps to enter the pit lane again, you will get a 30 or 45 second time penalty respectively instead.

Given by administrator

Any of these penalties can also be given or cleared by a server administrator using a special host command.
