All tracks in Live for Speed feature several static and dynamic conditions that may affect car handling.

Weather

Every track environment has a fixed set of weather presets. Weather can be set in the track selection screen. Each weather preset consists of two parts - day time and weather conditions. Day time can be dawn, sunrise, morning, day, afternoon, sunset, or dusk. Weather condition can be clear, cloudy, or overcast.

Weather settings only affect track lighting - they do not affect track temperature.

Weather option availability per track
Clear Cloudy Overcast
Dawn LA

Morning AU RO KY
Day BL FE KY WE AS RO LA SO
Afternoon SO BL KY AS AU RO
Sunset RO BL SO FE AU WE LA
Dusk FE

Wind

There are three wind speed settings: no wind, low wind and high wind. Wind speed can be set in the game lobby screen or by using the /wind command. The wind direction and speed is randomized with every start of a session, plus the wind direction itself can change during the course of the session too. The wind speed ranges for each setting are the following:

  • no wind
  • low wind - 1-24 km/h (? mph)
  • high wind - 25/50 km/h (? mph)

To check the current wind speed and direction on track, observe moving flags around the track. Some trees also sway in the wind.

Wind has a noticeable impact on your lap times and braking points. When you press F to see the forces view, there are visual indicators of the wind's lateral and longitudinal force components acting on the car - look for bright yellow arrows in the middle of the car.
