UF GTR is the race version of the UF1.

While it has less power than its competitor, the XFR, its lack of weight more than makes up for this. Besides eating a couple of sets of tyres, on twistier circuits it will also eat the XF GTR, but loses out on the straights. Certainly requires smooth driving. Whoever said Minis were boring?

History

Initially, the UF GTR was not part of the planned S2 release. The LX8 (non-GTR) was planned to be included in S2, which would have been paired well with the upcoming front-wheel driven XF GTR. However, on June 2, 2005, the developers announced the replacement of the LX8 with the new UF GTR.[1] Here is what the LFS developers wrote about the change:

We have made one change to the list of cars to be included. The LX8 will no longer be included and instead, we have a new car, the UF GTR. It's based on the UF 1000 but heavily modified for racing on wide slicks, with a 1.4 litre race tuned engine producing 180 bhp. It's a better choice for the S2 range of cars because it's a competitor for the XF GTR. Before this change, the LX8 and the XF GTR were alone in their own classes. We have enough new rear wheel drive cars in S2 - and the old LX6 is much better to drive than in the S1 version - competing with the RA and the FZ50 powerful road cars. So it's nice having another front wheel drive racing car. It's exciting to drive, being so light, front heavy and powerful.
—LFS Team

To conclude the LX8 story, the LX8 was never released publicly, nor was the GTR-version, the LX8 GTR. The latter however, was leaked in 2005. As Scawen described in 2018, the LX8 GTR was way overpowered, underdeveloped and barely driveable. He then published a special, unsupported version of the now semi-official 0.5F2 patch, containing the LX8 GTR, that was modified to work with the new master server and recent versions of Windows. The car can be unlocked with an S2 license.[2]

On topic, the UF GTR was released on June 24, 2005 as a part of the initial S2 release (0.5P).
