You can move a part of a model to a different model by saving a subobject from one mesh and loading that subobject into another mesh.

Moving subobjects

  1. 1 Go to subob mode.
  2. 2 Select a subobject.
  3. 3 Click the save button beside the word subobject at the bottom left.
  4. 4 Enter a name for the subobject and click OK. This will load save a subobject with the extension '.sre' in the folder data\3dob.
  5. 5 Load another model by clicking the LOAD button.
  6. 6 Select a subobject.
  7. 7 Click the load button beside the word subobject at the bottom left.

But what if the parts you want to move are not part of a subobject? In this case you can use the 'break off' and 'merge' functions.

Moving parts from main object

  1. 1 Go to subob mode.
  2. 2 Create a new empty subobject.
  3. 3 Switch to the main object.
  4. 4 Select the triangles in the main object that you want to move to another object.
  5. 5 Click the break off button. The triangles (and mappings) are moved into the new subobject.
  6. 6 Save the subobject.
  7. 7 Load the mesh where you want to add the subobject.
  8. 8 Add a new, empty subobject to that mesh.
  9. 9 Load the saved subobject into your new empty subobject and move it to the right position.
  10. 10 Optionally, click merge into main to merge the new subobject into the main object.

Moving triangles from a subobject to another subobject

  1. 1 Go to subob mode.
  2. 2 Add a new subobject.
  3. 3 Select the traingles that you want to break from the original subobject.
  4. 4 Click the break off button.
